Introduced by Govt. to promote saving for Girls child and there devolpment.
1) Account can be open in any Post Office or Nationalised bank.
2) Only one Account can be opened for one girl child maximum up to two girls child.
3) Maximun age of girls should not be more than 10 years to open an Account.
4) Deposit should be made up to 14 Years and maturity period will be 21 years from the date of account opening but account can be closed before 21 years in case of marriage.
5) Depositor should be deposit Rs 1000/- at the time of account opening.
6) Minimum amount of Rs 1000/- but not more than Rs 1,50,000/- should be deposit in per financial year up to 14 Years.
7) Depositor can deposit any amount in multiple of Rs 100 /-.
8) If Depositor could not deposited minimum deposit of Rs 1000 /- for per year, Penalty of Rs 50 /- will be charge for every year.
8) Either Father or Mother or Any one who cares properties of minor under law will be guardian and can deposit the amount.
9) After attained 18 years age, 50 % withdrawal are allowed for marriage and higher education.
10) Depositor can avail deduction U/s 80C of income tax. Interest and maturity amount is also exempt from tax.
